Case Western Reserve University senior James Hopper and junior Vishwa Aduru reached the finals of the 2022 ITA Fall Central Regional Championship on Sunday in St. Louis, Missouri to earn a berth into the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia in October.

Hopper and Aduru, who entered the tournament as the top-seeded pairing in the draw, defeated third-seeded Sachin Das and Andrei Leonov of Chicago 8-4 in the semifinals on Sunday to reach the championship match and earn their spot in the ITA Cup. This is the third-straight appearance in the doubles draw at the ITA Cup for Hopper, while Aduru will be making his first appearance.

Hopper and Aduru went on to fall to second-seeded Abhi Ramireddy and Phuc Huynh of Washington University in the championship match, 6-4, 7-5. The Spartans' pairing finished the weekend with a 4-1 record together.

In the main singles draw on Sunday, fifth-seeded sophomore Ansh Shah fell to fourth-seeded Ramireddy in the semifinals, 6-4, 6-3.

In the back draws of the singles tournament, sophomore Casey Hishinuma went 1-1 to reach the semifinals of the green draw, while senior Michael Sutanto was 2-1 in the red draw, reaching the championship match.

Next up for Hopper and Aduru will be the ITA Cup from October 13 – 16. The rest of the squad will be in action at the Navy Blue Invitational in Annapolis, Maryland, and the Everybody vs. Cancer Invitational in Toledo, Ohio that weekend to wrap up the fall season.
