Junior (2021-22): Won the 2022 NCAA Division III National Doubles Championship with teammate Jonathan Powell, becoming the second Spartan duo ever to claim the title… One of 18 CWRU Athletes in the history of the department to win a National Title… Marked the 20th National Championship in program history… After entering the draw as the no. 2 seeded duo, defeated Emory’s Andrew Esses and Nolan Shah in straight sets, 6-4, 6-1, to win the title… Earned All-America honors for his play at both singles and doubles for the third-straight season… Named to the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team for his play at doubles… Reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Singles Tournament… Received All-UAA First Team honors for his play at both no. 1 singles and no. 1 doubles… Won the ITA Fall Regional Singles and Doubles Championships and went on to reach the quarterfinals of the singles draw and round of 16 of the doubles draw at the ITA Cup… Ended the year ranked first in both Division III and the Central Region for his play at doubles and sixth in Division III and second in the region in singles… Named the UAA Athlete of the Week on both Oct. 4 and Oct. 11… Set a school record for doubles wins in a season, going 37-6, while his .860 doubles winning percentage ranked as the ninth-best in program history… Added a 19-9 singles record during the campaign… Received UAA All-Academic honors… At the end of his junior season, is tied for 12th in program history with 54 career singles wins, fifth with a .783 (54-15) career singles winning percentage, sixth with 84 career doubles wins, and first with a career .903 (84-9) career doubles winning percentage.
Sophomore (2020-21): Earned ITA All-America honors for his play at both singles and doubles for the second-consecutive year… One of just five All-Americans in the program’s history, and one of just four CWRU players ever to earn multiple all-America honors… His four total career all-America honors after two seasons are already the second-most ever accumulated by a Spartan… Named to the All-UAA Team for his efforts at both no. 1 singles and no. 1 doubles… Ended the campaign ranked sixth among all Division III singles players and third in the Central Region… Was also ranked third in Division III and second in the region for his play at doubles with Matthew Chen… Reached the quarterfinals of both the singles and doubles draws at the NCAA Individual Championships… Led the team in both singles (14-2) and doubles (16-1) wins during the season… His .941 doubles winning percentage matched the school’s single-season record… Named the UAA Athlete of the Week on three occasions – March 29, April 5 and May 17… Won 11-straight singles matches and 16-straight doubles contests to begin the season… Went 3-1 in singles matches during the NCAA Team Championships, including a straight-set win at no. 1 singles in the National Championship match… Was 5-0 in doubles matches during the NCAA Team Championships… Earned wins at no. 1 doubles and no. 1 singles when the Spartans’ faced Division I Cleveland State during the regular season… Ended his sophomore campaign with a 35-6 singles record, good for the 25th-most wins and third-best winning percentage (.854) in program history… Holds a 47-3 career doubles record, marking the 15th-most wins and best career winning percentage in team history… Received UAA Spring All-Academic recognition and was named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
First-year (2019-20): Recorded one of the best individual seasons in program history as a first-year player… Named the ITA Division III National Rookie of the Year, after also being named the Central Region Rookie of the Year… Claimed All-America status for his play in both doubles and singles… Won the ITA Cup Division III Doubles National Championship with partner Matthew Chen in the fall… Placed fifth in the ITA Cup singles draw… Became the first player in team history to win an ITA Fall Central Region Championship, winning both the singles and doubles tournament (with Chen)… Claimed All-University Athletic Association honors for his play at both singles and doubles… Secured UAA Athlete of the Week honors on four occasions (three times in the fall and once in the spring)… Was ranked first nationally in the final doubles rankings, while checking in at seventh nationally and second regionally in the final singles rankings… Finished the season with a 31-2 doubles record, falling just two victories shy of the program’s single-season record… Was 15-1 in doubles play in the spring, including a 15-1 ledger in no. 1 doubles matches… Was 16-1 in doubles play during tournaments… His .939 doubles winning percentage is tied for the second-best in a single season in program history, and ranks as the best career mark ever by a Spartan with at least 30 doubles wins… Went 24-2 when paired with Chen in doubles matches… Added a 21-4 singles record, including marks of 16-1 in tournament play and 5-3 in the spring… Marks the 12th-most singles wins in a season, and the 10th-best winning percentage (.840)… Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
