Case Western Reserve University senior James Hopper and junior Vishwa Aduru saw their fall season officially come to a close on Thursday evening, as the Spartans' pair dropped another tightly played three-set match against a Division I opponent at the ITA Fall Nationals in San Diego, California.
Facing Younes Lalami and Brandon Perez of Old Dominion University, Hopper and Aduru fell in the first set 6-3, before evening the match with a 6-4 win in the second set. However, for the second-straight day, CWRU suffered a 10-8 loss in the third-set tiebreaker to fall in the match.
The loss wraps up an incredible fall season for the duo, which includes just the program's second-ever win in the Division III doubles draw at the ITA Cup, leading to a wild card berth into the ITA Fall Nationals. By virtue of their fall success, the duo qualified for 2022-23 all-America honors. Hopper and Aduru finished the fall with a 9-4 doubles record together.
The Spartans will open their spring campaign on Friday, February 10th with matches against Wayne State and Northwestern Ohio in Detroit, Michigan.
