Hopper & Aduru to Play for ITA Cup Championship after Two Friday Wins

Case Western Reserve University senior James Hopper and junior Vishwa Aduru won two more matches on Friday afternoon to reach the finals of the Division III Doubles Draw at the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia.

Hopper and Aduru, who entered the draw as the third-seeded team, will face unseeded Derin Acaroglu and Vuk Vuksanovic of Tufts for the ITA Cup Championship on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. The Spartans duo will be aiming for the second ITA Cup Doubles Championship in program history after Hopper won the title with former Spartan Matthew Chen as a first-year in 2019.

The winner of Saturday's match will earn the right to submit their names for a wildcard berth into the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, California, which will feature the top 32 men's doubles teams in all of collegiate tennis.

Hopper and Aduru claimed their spot in the finals with two more victories on Friday. The duo opened play with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 win over Matthew Feng and Eshaan Lumba of Pomona-Pitzer in the quarterfinals. Later in the day, Hopper and Aduru bested James Yu and Thomas Yu of Johns Hopkins in straight sets, 7-6 (2), 6-2.

Hopper and Aduru improved to 8-2 together in doubles play this season.
