The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team wrapped up its 2021 fall campaign on Friday afternoon, as junior James Hopper and graduate student Jonathan Powell won both of their doubles matches to complete play at the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia.
Playing in the consolation draw, Hopper and Powell bested Sam Dean and Santiago Suarez of Emory in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, and followed that with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Zachary Portnoy and Brendan Jimenez of Skidmore. The duo finished the fall with a 10-1 record together.
Also in action on Friday, first-year Ansh Shah fell 6-4, 6-1 to Moses Hutchison of the University of Mary Washington.
All three CWRU players claimed all-America honors during the fall season.
With the fall season now complete, the Spartans will turn their attention toward the 2022 spring campaign. CWRU will begin its spring season on February 4 against the University of Northwestern Ohio.
