The Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams each picked up victories in their dual-meet on Saturday afternoon, with the men defeating Oberlin College 154-82, and the women claiming a 160.5-81.5 victory.
The Spartan men raised their season ledger to 3-2 and the women improved to 3-1, while the Oberlin men and women each dropped to 2-1.
The Spartan men and women combined to win 17 of the 26 events on Saturday, including eight first place finishes for the men, and nine for the women.
Sophomore Casey Crowley won the 100-yard butterfly with a time 1:02.23, sophomore Bhavya Kumaran won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.34 and sophomore Alli Drohosky won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.47. Crowley, Kumaran and Drohosky also teamed with junior Inez Moore to finish first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.27.
Other individual wins by the Spartan women on Saturday came from junior Jennifer Eurich in the 50-yard freestyle (25.55), sophomore Kelsey Holmberg in the 1,000-yard freestyle (career-best time of 11:07.69) and freshman Olivia Picchione in the 400-yard individual medley (4:50.99).
Junior Brooke Hortness came away with wins in both women's diving events, registering scores of 196.30 in the one-meter dive and 205.45 in the three-meter dive.
Junior Oliver Hudgins paced the Spartan men on Saturday with a win in the 100-yard backstroke (55.07). Hudgins also swam with junior Aaron Pang, sophomore Brody Schmidt and freshman Mason Beck to finish first in 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.63.
The Spartans won the 400-yard freestyle relay as well, with Hudgins and Schmidt teaming with Hamilton and senior Andrew Henning to finish first with a time of 3:16.98.
Other individual wins by the Spartan men on Saturday came from senior David Merriman in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:16.97), Hamilton in the 200-yard freestyle (1:47.95), freshman John Libert in the 100-yard butterfly (55:07), Henning in the 100-yard freestyle (48.95) and freshman Tom Schlechter in the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.87).
CWRU will be off from competition next weekend, before traveling to Grove City, Pennsylvania for a tri-meet against Grove City College and Gannon University on Saturday, November 19th at 1:00 p.m.
