CLEVELAND – Seven individual event wins and victories in both relays set the pace as the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team defeated cross-town rival Baldwin Wallace University on Seniors' Day at Veale Natatorium.
The Spartans close out the dual meet portion of the schedule with a mark of 6-4.
Prior to the meet, CWRU honored its 15 swimming & diving senior student-athletes, including women's team members Hannah Altman-Kurosaki (New York, N.Y./Fiorello H. LaGuardia), Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North), Taryn Fitch (Granville, Ohio/Granville), Kathryn Madalena (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) and Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston).
Dillione was a double-winner in the 50-yard freestyle (25.10) and 50 butterfly (26.33). Tillie won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.98.
Additional individual wins came from junior Brianna Cain (Perry, Ohio/Perry) in the 50 breaststroke (31.59), sophomore Rebecca Pakradooni (Augusta, Ga./Lakeside) in the 100 fly (1:00.34), sophomore Rachael Loek (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) in the 100 free (56.87) and junior Abby Glenn (Novi, Mich./Novi) in the 500 free (5:32.50).
The Spartans also bookended the meet with wins in the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
In the 200 medley event, junior Sophia Colevas (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) swam leadoff for Cain, Pakradooni and freshman anchor Hannah Saunders (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles East) as the quartet finished in 1:56.04.
In the 200 free relay, Pakradooni, Saunders and Loek followed sophomore AJ Thirion (Cortland, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) in a time of 1:43.53.
The Spartans now have more than a week off from competition in preparation for the 2014 University Athletic Association Championship hosted by Emory University on Wednesday-Saturday, February 12-15 in Atlanta. Each day will run with 10:00 a.m. prelims and 5:30 p.m. finals.
