WOOSTER, Ohio – Senior co-captains Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) each broke school records with NCAA "B" cut times as the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team remained in sixth place on day two of The College of Wooster Invitational at Ellen Shapiro Natatorium.
Dillione broke her own school record in the 100-yard butterfly with a first-place time of 56.14. The fourth-year standout swam to a then meet-record time of 56.25 last November at the Wooster Invite.
Tillie, who hit a "B" cut yesterday evening in the 200 individual medley, achieved her second school record with a runner-up time of 4:32.18 in the 400 IM. The previous CWRU record of 4:32.35 was set in 2001 by Elizabeth Badziong. Tillie also holds the school's 200 IM record of 2:07.53.
In the final women's event of the night, Tillie swam leadoff and Dillione swam anchor as the Spartans finished runner-up in the 800 free relay. The quartet that included sophomores AJ Thirion (Cortland, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) and Rebecca Pakradooni (Augusta, Ga./Lakeside) finished in 7:48.50.
In diving action, sophomore Riki Drout (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills) placed fourth on the 1-meter board with 318.50 points.
The Wooster Invite wraps up tomorrow with 10:00 a.m. prelims and 5:00 p.m. finals. Following this weekend, the Spartans are idle for winter break training and won't return to competition until Saturday, January 18 at Allegheny College (Pa.).
