CLEVELAND – The Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team defeated Notre Dame College (Ohio), 122-61, and John Carroll University, 113-107, on the opening weekend of the Cleveland City Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Veale Natatorium.
With the win, the Spartans improve to 2-1 overall in duals and will conclude the tournament next Saturday, November 9 at Veale Natatorium.
Senior diver Daniel Jacobson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) won both diving events with scores of 301.80 in the 3-meter dive and 302.15 in the 1-meter event.
In total, the Spartans won nine events behind freshman David Merriman (Clive, Iowa/Valley ) in the 1,000-yard freestyle, senior Scott McHenry (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) in the 200 free, senior Nick Clyde (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) in the 200 individual medley, sophomore Aaron Tam (Doral, Fla./Ronald Reagan Doral Senior) in the 100 butterfly, junior Eric Haufler (Westminster, Md. /Francis Scott Key) in the 100 free and sophomore Drew Weibel (Longmont, Colo./Niwot) in the 100 backstroke.
