Two More School Records Fall as Spartan Women Move Up to Sixth Following Day Two of UAA Championships

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Senior Stephanie Campbell (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) continues to rewrite the Case Western Reserve University record book, breaking her own school record in the 100-yard backstroke, her second individual record in as many days, and the Spartan women's swimming & diving team moved up one spot to sixth on day two of the 2012 University Athletic Association Championship hosted by CWRU at Veale Natatorium.

No. 1 nationally-ranked Emory University (Ga.) continues to hold the team lead, racking up 1,393 points with only Saturday's action remaining. No. 9 University of Chicago (Ill.) stays in second at 873, while No. 17 Carnegie Mellon University improves two spots from the opening night to third with 762. No. 21 New York University stays in fourth with 657 points, while Washington University-St. Louis rounds out the top-five with 610 points.

Campbell's time of 58.04 in the 100 back was good enough to slip under the NCAA B-Cut mark, her second provisional time in as many nights. Her time was good for fourth in the event.

A Spartan women's school record was also established during the evening's opening event, the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Campbell, freshman Brianna Cain (Perry, Ohio/Perry) and sophomores Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) stopped the clock in a school-record time of 1:47.45.

In the 100 butterfly event, Dillione also stopped the clock third in the championship final touching the wall an NCAA B-cut provisional mark of 54.75.

Not done yet, the quartet of Tillie, senior Jessica Nuhfer (Warren, Pa./Warren Area), Campbell and Dillione finished fourth in the 800-yard freestyle relay, the final event of the evening, touching the wall in 7:46.72.

The fourth and final day of the championship begins on Saturday morning with 10:00 a.m. prelims. Men's one-meter diving will take place at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. at William H. Johnson Natatorium in University Heights, while the swimming finals are slated for 6:00 p.m. at Veale.
