WOOSTER, Ohio -- The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team improved one spot to fourth place on day two of three at the 2011 College of Wooster Invitational and the Spartan 200-yard medley relay team set a school record.
Friday marked the second day in a row that a school record fell on the women's side, as senior Stephanie Campbell (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) broke the 200 individual medley mark during the finals last night.
The Spartans have scored 670 points through two days of competition, ranking behind a pair of Division II Pennsylvania schools in Edinboro University (1,1178) and Gannon University (961) and host Wooster (783). The third and final day of the invitational begins with 10:00 a.m. prelims tomorrow morning. Finals are slated for 5:00 p.m.
The Spartans opened the night with a bang as the 200 medley relay quartet of Campbell, freshman Brianna Cain (Perry, Ohio/Perry) and sophomores Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North) and Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) placed third with a time of 1:49.26.
Individually, Tillie finished third in the 400 IM with a mark of 4:40.64. Dillione was fifth in the 100 butterfly in 58.85, while Campbell took fifth in the 100 backstroke in 59.62
Dillione, Tillie and Campbell also teamed up with senior Lucy Bollinger (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) for a third-place finish in the 800 free relay (7:55.67).
