WOOSTER, Ohio -- Senior Stephanie Campbell (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) set a school record in the 200-yard individual medley as the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team competed during the first day of the three-day College of Wooster Invitational.
The Spartans scored 271 points on day one and rank fifth of the nine teams competing. Two of the teams ahead of Case are Division II schools.
Day two of the Wooster Invitational begins with 10:00 a.m. prelims on Friday. Finals are set for 6:00 p.m.
Campbell placed fourth in the 24-swimmer field with a time of 2:10.16, breaking the old mark of 2:10.96 set last season by sophomore teammate Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North). Sophomore Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) was right behind Campbell with a time of 2:10.24, also surpassing the old mark.
In the 50-yard freestyle event, Dillione touched the wall fourth with a time of 24.77 seconds.
