CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming & diving team fell to The College of Wooster by a narrow count of 122.5-108.5 on Saturday afternoon in the championship match of the 2011 Veale Classic Duals at the Veale Natatorium.
The Spartans (1-4) have a week off from competition before they hit the pool on Saturday, November 19 in tri-meet competition with Grove City College (Pa.) and Kenyon College. Action is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Case Western Reserve produced a pair of double-winners on the afternoon. Senior Stephanie Campbell (Highland Heights, Ohio/Mayfield) won both the 200-yard individual medley (2:14.37) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:11.86).
During the diving portion of the event, Spartan freshman Sophia Herzog (Coopersburg, Pa./Southern Lehigh) won both the one-meter (127.90) and three-meter (112.40) events. Also of note, Case sophomore Taryn Fitch (Granville, Ohio/Granville) finished behind Herzog on the one-meter (122.70) and three-meter (108.20) boards.
Also picking up individual event victories for the hosts were sophomore Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md./Fallston) in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.73 and junior Krysta Payne (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley) in the 200 breaststroke (2:37.17).
