Salazar Garza, Lambright, & Ware Selected to Individual NCAA Championship Field

Case Western Reserve University juniors Santiago Salazar Garza and Trey Lambright, and graduate student Bryce Ware were each selected to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Individual Championships. Salazar Garza was selected to the singles draw, while Lambright and Ware will compete in the doubles draw.

The individual championships consist of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The selection of teams and individuals for the championships was based on won-lost record, strength of schedule, and eligibility and availability of student-athletes. Competition will be held at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from May 23-26.

The draw for the individual championships will be done by the men's tennis committee and will be released on May 22, not before 1 p.m. Eastern time.

Salazar Garza, an All-UAA Second Team selection, has played out of the no. 1 spot in the singles lineup for CWRU for most of the spring, tallying an overall record of 20-12 for the campaign. He is currently ranked 22nd in Division III and sixth in the Central Region, and has a 10-10 record in no. 1 singles matches this year.

Lambright and Ware, ranked fifth in Division III and second in the region, are 20-7 as a pair this year, including a 14-6 mark in no. 1 doubles contests. The pair was 1-1 during the UAA Championship with a win over the duo from Brandeis in the quarterfinals and was recently named to the All-UAA First Team.

This is the first appearance in the individual championship draws for each of CWRU's three representatives.

The Spartans placed second at the 2026 UAA Championship in Altamonte Springs, Florida, in late April, marking the team's fifth-consecutive top-two finish at the conference championship. CWRU stands at 26-8 overall and will host the first three rounds of the NCAA Division III Championship this weekend at the Carlton Courts in Cleveland.
