Jhaveri Named the ITA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year

Case Western Reserve University men's tennis assistant coach Saumil Jhaveri was named the Division III Assistant Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for his contributions toward the team's success during the 2025-26 campaign.

The honor, recognizing an assistant coach who has exhibited outstanding leadership in ways that contribute to on and off-court team performance, came after Jhaveri was named the ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year last week, making him eligible for the national honor. He is the second assistant coach in Spartan history to receive the honor, along with Wade Heerboth in 2023.

"The recognition of Saumil's impact on this team from his coaching peers is further evidence of the positive impact he has had on the program's achievements," said CWRU Head Coach Todd Wojtkowski. "The team's sustained success since his arrival is in large part due to his dedication, knowledge, and commitment to the program. By elevating the standard of work ethic and the importance of family, he has strengthened the culture and left a mark that will continue to influence our success long term. I cannot think of a more deserving recipient of this award."

Jhaveri's efforts this season helped the fifth-ranked Spartans reach the NCAA semifinals for the fifth time in the last six seasons. The team finished the year with a 29-9 overall record and placed second in the University Athletic Association and third at the ITA Indoor National Championship.

Jhaveri has been a volunteer assistant coach for the Spartans since the 2021 campaign. During his six seasons with the team, he has helped the squad win the NCAA Championship in 2023, reach the NCAA title match four times, and win the UAA title in 2023 and 2025. The team has an overall record of 157-33 over the past six seasons, good for an .826 winning percentage.

CWRU wrapped up its 2025-26 campaign last week, besting fourth-ranked Denison in the quarterfinals before suffering a setback to second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals. Junior Santiago Salazar Garza, graduate student Bryce Ware, and junior Trey Lambright each claimed all-America honors for the season.
