Senior Claire Kozma of the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America First Team, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Kozma earned the third Academic All-America honor of her career after receiving Third Team accolades as a sophomore and Second Team recognition last year. Her three honors are the most ever for any member of the CWRU women's swimming and diving team. She is also one of just 11 Spartans across all sports to receive at least three honors from the CSC.
Kozma earned the ninth honor in the history of the CWRU women's swimming and diving program and is joined by Abigail Wilkov (2024, 2025) and Sharon Sanborn (1997, 1998) as multiple time honorees from the team. A total of 127 CWRU student-athletes from all varsity teams have garnered 188 Academic All-America honors since the program's inception.
Kozma finished her career as the third-most decorated swimmer in CWRU history, totaling 11 All-America honors across four seasons, including one First Team selection. This season, she placed nationally in the top 16 in three events, finishing ninth in the 200 Free, 13th in the 200 Fly, and 13th in the 200 Free Relay. During the campaign, Kozma set school records in the 100 Free (50.48 seconds), 200 Fly (2:02.66), and 400 Free Relay (3:25.46). She qualified for the NCAA Championships in all four of her seasons as a Spartan and is a three-time All-University Athletic Association honoree with a trio of third-place finishes in the 200 Free. In addition to the school records, Kozma recorded the second-best time in program history in the 200 Free and fourth-fastest time in the 50 Free and 500 Free this year. Kozma has a cumulative 4.000 GPA as a human nutrition major.
Student-athletes who maintained at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average as a sophomore academically and athletically and have competed in 75 percent of a team's competitions or finished in the top eight in an event at a conference meet or qualified for the national championship meet to be eligible for the award. The CSC selected eight members for its First Team, nine members for its Second Team, and seven members for its Third Team for a total of 24 Academic All-Americans out of the 679 student-athletes selected to the Academic All-District Team.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Swimming and Diving Team, selected by CSC, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes women's swimming and diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
The Division III CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Division III Academic All-America programs.
Overall, the Spartan women's swimming and diving team tied for 23rd in the team standings with 21.0 points, placing in the top 25 for the third consecutive year and scoring at the national championship for the seventh time in a row.
