Case Western Reserve University junior forward Maura Schorr scored a career-high 17 points, but it was not enough for the Spartans, who suffered a 90-46 loss to 19th-ranked Emory University on Friday night at the Woodruff Physical Education Center in Atlanta.
The loss was the third straight for the Spartans, who fell to 8-7 overall with a 1-3 University Athletic Association record, while the Eagles ended a two-game losing streak to improve to 12-3 overall with a 2-2 conference mark.

Schorr was the lone Spartan to score in double figures on Friday night, shooting eight-of-14 from the floor, including one-of-two three-point attempts. She also led the squad with seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

First Period

Emory led by as many as six points in the opening minutes, taking a 14-8 lead over the Spartans with 5:38 on the clock in the opening stanza.

A layup by Schorr and a three-pointer from Hartjes pulled CWRU back within a point, 14-13, with 2:43 to play in the period.

Emory scored the final four points of the quarter to take an 18-13 lead into the second period.
Second Period

The Eagles continued their run as Alexandra Loucopoulos scored the first five points of the second quarter to go ahead by 10, 23-13, with 8:47 to play in the half.

Emory went on an 8-0 run later in the period to go up 37-18 with 2:01 left in the half, before Schorr ended the run with a three-pointer with 1:34 left. The Eagles added on four more points to take a 20-point advantage, 41-21, into halftime.

Schorr finished the first half shooting six-of-seven overall for 13 points with three rebounds and a steal.
Third Period

Schorr opened the third period with a layup to pull CWRU back within 18 points, 41-23.

That would be as close as the Spartans would get for the rest of the period, as Emory pulled away to take a 64-30 lead by the end of the third.
Fourth Period

First-year guard Ava Jordan came off the bench to score all of her career-high five points in the fourth period of the game, but it was not enough for the Spartans to dent the Eagles' lead, as Emory ended the game with a 44-point lead, its largest of the day.
