The Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team will be headed to Greece for a 10-day trip before the start of the academic year, as the Spartans look to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime experience while also building camaraderie and preparing for the upcoming campaign.

Per NCAA Division III rules, teams are allowed to take an international trip outside of their playing season once every four years. The trip also allows for additional practices, both during and before the team departs.

"The opportunity for our upperclassmen to compete and have this time together prior to the start of the school year is really special," said CWRU Head Coach Jennifer Reimer. "This team has high expectations for the season ahead, and to kick off our year with this incredible trip to Greece is going to set the tone for the year."

While the Spartans are slated to play games against Nafplio Select and Athens Select while in Greece, the trip will also allow plenty of time for sightseeing and exploring the country. CWRU will be visiting several cities, including Nafplio, Athens, and Mykonos.

Scheduled activities include visits to the Palamidi Castle and Corinth Canal, a bike tour of Athens, and a tour of the Acropolis. The players will also have free time to explore the various cities they visit along the way.

CWRU finished the 2025-26 season with an 11-14 overall record, including a 4-10 mark in UAA contests. The Spartans are slated to open their 2026-27 campaign on November 6 at 6:00 p.m. against Chatham at the Hampton Inn by Hilton Women's Basketball Tipoff in Washington, Pennsylvania.
