Four members of the Case Western Reserve University women's basketball team - junior guard Jordyn Call, junior guard Mya Hartjes, senior guard/ forward Emily Plachta, and junior forward Biz Watson - were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, based on their athletic and academic achievements during the 2025-26 season.
This was the second-consecutive season that Hartjes and Plachta have received the honors, while Call and Watson secured the award for the first time over their respective careers. Both Hartjes and Plachta were selected to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees set to be announced on April 15.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Players honored were selected by their school's Sports Information Directors and must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. A maximum of four student-athletes from each school can be nominated.
Call played in all 25 games for the Spartans during the 2025-26 season, starting all but one during the campaign. She finished the year averaging 7.2 points per game with 1.9 rebounds and 0.9 assists per contest. She scored in double figures on nine occasions, including a season-high 14 points three times. Call is a biochemistry major with a 3.654 cumulative GPA.
Hartjes, an All-University Athletic Association First-Team selection, led all conference players during the season with 99 total assists (85th among DIII players) and 4.0 assists per game (75th among DIII players). She was also second in the conference and 14th in Division III with a 41.0% mark from three-point range during the campaign, the second-highest percentage by a player in program history. She averaged 15.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, both the seventh-highest totals in the league. In the team's 14 conference games, she averaged 15.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 4.3 assists. Hartjes scored in double figures in all but three games during the campaign and posted three double-doubles during the year, two of which came against WashU. She scored a career-high 25 points against Oberlin on December 29 and collected a career-best 14 rebounds against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on November 8. She dished out a career-high nine assists in a win over Thiel on November 22. Hartjes was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Baldwin Wallace Holiday Classic in December. Hartjes, a biomedical engineering major, has a cumulative 3.527 GPA.
Plachta led the team and was fifth in the UAA with 15.7 points per game, shooting 38.6% overall and 33.1% from behind the three-point line. She was sixth in the league with 7.0 rebounds per game, while ranking third with 1.3 blocks and 21st with 1.2 steals per contest. Plachta finished sixth in the league in points (15.1) and rebounds (6.9), and fourth in blocks (1.1) over the team's 14 UAA games. She was named the Most Valuable Player at the MSOE STEM Classic to open the campaign and was selected to the Baldwin Wallace Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team. Plachta scored a career-high 31 points during the team's season-ending win over Carnegie Mellon and totaled five double-doubles during the year. Plachta has a 3.538 cumulative GPA as a civil engineering major.
Watson appeared in all 25 games during the season and made nine starts, including each of the team's final six games. She averaged 3.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per contest with 1.4 assists per game, while blocking 21 shots and collecting 39 steals. She scored a career-high eight points against Chicago on February 13 and had a personal-best 14 rebounds during the team's win over Rochester on February 22. Watson is a marketing major with a 3.579 cumulative GPA.
The Spartans finished their 2025-26 season with an 11-14 overall record, including a 4-10 mark in UAA play, good for a sixth-place finish in the league.
