A preview of the Case Western Reserve University varsity athletic events for the second week of the fall 2025 season (September 1-7) and a recap of the events from the previous week of competition (August 25-31). Last Week's Recap
Women's Soccer (2-0-0)
- Defeated Franciscan on Friday night at home, 7-0. Seniors Jamie Goldfarb and Maggie Farra both had hat tricks in the game, and sophomore Ellie Palaian recorded her first career shutout
- Won 6-0 over Allegheny on Sunday afternoon at home. Six different Spartans scored in the contest, including first-year Izzy Probst who recorded her first collegiate goal
Men's Soccer (2-0-0)
- Won 2-0 over Franciscan on Friday night in Steubenville, Ohio. Junior Ohta Kamiya and sophomore Amir Awais both scored in the first half for the CWRU win
- Defeated Juniata 1-0 on Sunday afternoon in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. Sophomore Mitchell Fein scored his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute to secure the Spartan victory
Men's and Women's Cross Country
- Both teams prevailed over John Carroll in a dual meet at the CWRU Farm on Friday evening with each winning by scores of 15-50
- The Spartans claimed the top seven spots in the women's race with first-year Halina Tompkins setting a course record with a time of 14:42.39 in the 4K
- Case Western Reserve also had the top seven finishers in the men's race, led by junior Jacob Slater who completed the 6K circuit in a course record time of 18:59.45
Volleyball (0-4)
- The Spartans lost a close three-set match to Whittier (20-25, 22-25, 21-25) to open the season on Friday then fell to 15th-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in three sets later in the day in Claremont, California
- The team stayed in the Los Angeles area on Saturday, dropping a five-set match to Chapman and losing in three sets to seventh-ranked La Verne on the Leopards home court
- Senior Kalli Wall ended the weekend with 47 kills and nine blocks, senior Amanda Ngo added 38 kills and 15 blocks, and sophomore Sophia Datto paced the team with 72 digs
