Last Week's Recap
#11 Women's Soccer (3-0-0 last week)
- Started the season with three home, non-conference wins, defeating John Carroll 2-1, Pacific Lutheran 5-1, and Capital 3-1
- Sophomore Izzy Probst had three goals and three assists for nine points across the three games, recording a point in every contest
- First-year Sonora Hale scored twice against Pacific Lutheran and finished the week with three goals and one assist
Men's Soccer (3-0-0)
- Began the campaign with three non-conference wins, defeating Ohio Wesleyan 6-1 at home, Juniata 2-1 at home, and Wooster 3-0 on the road
- 10 different Spartans scored 11 goals across the three games
- Sophomore Micah Rossen led the team with two goals and two assists for six points, recording a point in every contest
Football (1-0)
- Defeated Rochester 38-20 in a non-conference game on Friday night in Rochester, New York, to begin the 2026 season
- Graduate student quarterback Aaron Filips went 38-for-43 through the air for 356 yards and four touchdowns
- Junior defensive back Jake Kavcic was named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week after recording five tackles (four solo), one sack, and four pass breakups (tied for the fourth-most among DIII players last week)
Volleyball (2-2)
- Fell in four sets to Mount Union on Tuesday before defeating Kenyon and Heidelberg and losing to Hanover at the Great Lakes Cross Over on Friday and Saturday
- First-year outside hitter Maya Zarow led the Spartans with 56 kills last week and recorded a double-double in three of the four matches
- First-year setter Piper Starling led the Spartans in digs with 46 digs (3.07 per set) and also tied for the team lead with 75 assists (5.00 per set)
Men's & Women's Cross Country
- Defeated John Carroll 22-33 in the 6K men's race and 24-34 in the 4K women's race at the season-opening Bill Sudeck Invitational at the University Farm in Hunting Valley, Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon
- Sophomore Francesca Taracila (15:48.9) and junior Donovan Crowley (19:46.6) won the races for CWRU
Women's Tennis
- Started the fall season at the Allegheny Invite in Meadville, Pennsylvania, on Sunday
- Competed against players from Division II schools Mercyhurst University and Tiffin University and Division III Allegheny College
- Went 5-5 in singles matches and 5-7 in doubles matches at the invite
