The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team had a pair of All-Americans for the fourth consecutive season following a successful 2024-25 campaign for the squad.
Senior Lily McCloskey and junior Katalina Wang competed for the Spartans at the 2025 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Championships at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California in late May. The duo won its first match in the doubles bracket, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. The CWRU pair fell to the fourth-seeded partnership from Pomona-Pitzer in three sets, but the run matched the furthest for any duo in program history. McCloskey competed in the 32-player singles tournament, falling in the first round. She was making her fourth national tournament appearance in a row, while Wang made her national tournament debut.
McCloskey finished her career as a four-time All-American, earning the honor for her doubles play in each season of competition. During the 2024-25 season, she was named to the All-University Athletic Association First Team for her play at first singles and the All-UAA Second Team for her play at first doubles, her seventh and eighth career conference honors. She went 15-9 in singles play and 22-6 in doubles matches during the campaign, including a 14-4 mark at first doubles.
Wang received her first career All-America honors following the national championship. She was also named to the All-UAA Second Team at first doubles, going 20-7 overall in doubles matches. Wang added a 14-9 record in singles matches, splitting her time between the second and third positions in the lineup.
Overall, the team started the season with six consecutive wins, including five sweeps. After dropping a pair of matches to ranked foes in Virginia, the Spartans won five of their next six matches with sweeps of Ohio Northern and Otterbein. The squad went 8-1 on its home courts during the campaign with the lone loss coming to national quarterfinalist Bowdoin. The team ended the campaign with a sixth-place finish at the UAA Championship in Florida, defeating Rochester but falling to conference champion WashU and Brandeis in conference play.
CWRU (13-7) finished the season ranked 20th by the ITA in Division III and fourth in the Central Region. Of the team's 20 opponents, 14 ended the season as nationally ranked top 50 teams, including three in the top 10. The Spartans won six of their matchups against ranked foes.
Graduate student Laurel Utterback played at second singles during her lone season on the team, earning All-UAA honorable mention. She finished the season with a singles record of 11-9 and doubles mark of 13-7. Junior Asha Shukla led the team with 16 singles wins, going 16-8 during the campaign, while adding a 12-9 record in doubles play.
