Three Spartans Earn All-UAA Women’s Tennis Honors

Three members of the Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team were honored by the University Athletic Association for their play during the 2024-25 season, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Senior Lily McCloskey was named to the All-UAA First Team for her singles play. She was joined on the All-UAA Second Team by her doubles partner, junior Katalina Wang. Additionally, graduate student Laurel Utterback received All-UAA honorable mention at second singles.

McCloskey received her seventh and eighth all-time All-UAA honors after being named to the First Team for her doubles play and Second Team for her singles play the previous three seasons. Her eight all-conference nods match a program record set by Madeleine Paolucci across her career from 2017-21. McCloskey went 15-8 this season in singles play, including a 9-6 record at first singles, and 21-5 in doubles play, including a 14-4 mark at first doubles. Across her career, she is 56-30 (.651) in singles matches and 84-23 (.785) in doubles matches with her 84 wins the most in program history.

Wang earned her third career All-UAA honor after she was named to the Second Team for doubles play and received honorable mention for singles play in 2023. This season, she has a record of 14-9 in singles play and 19-6 in doubles play, including a 12-4 mark at first doubles. Across three seasons, Wang has 40 singles wins and 49 doubles victories.

In her first season with the Spartans, Utterback received her first career All-UAA honor. She went 11-9 in singles matches during the campaign, including a 6-7 mark in dual matches, and added a 13-7 record in doubles play. In her career, which includes two years of competition at Division I Bucknell, Utterback posted a 28-25 singles record and 31-21 record in doubles play.

The CWRU women's tennis team ended the 2024-25 season with a record of 13-7 in dual matches. Individual selections to the national singles and doubles championships will be announced later this evening by the NCAA.
