Senior Peter Meng of the Case Western Reserve University men's swimming and diving team ended the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships with his sixth career All-America selection on Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, leading the Spartans to their best national finish in 27 years.
Overall, the CWRU men's swimming team placed 25th nationally out of 48 scoring schools. The 25th place finish is the best by the squad since 1999 when the team placed 23rd. Case Western Reserve totaled 31.0 points across the four days of competition, earning points in seven events. The 31 points are the most by a Spartan men's team at a national championship since 1999 when the team scored 38 points and is tied for the sixth-most points ever by the squad. Denison won the national championship with 463.5 points.
In the timed final of the 1650 Free, Meng recorded a time of 15:40.90 to place ninth in the event and earn All-America Second Team honors. It marked the second consecutive season in which he received Second Team All-America recognition in the event after placing 14th last season. Meng became the second-ever member of the CWRU men's swimming program to earn multiple All-America honors in the event, and his ninth-place finish was the second-best all-time, trailing only Steve Pohnert, who placed seventh in 1992. Meng qualified for the national championship with a time of 15:40.04.
At the 2025 championships, Meng totaled four Second Team All-America selections, placing in the top 16 in the 1650 Free, 800 Free Relay, 400 IM, and 200 IM. The four honors at one meet are the most since John Gellin had five in 2002.
The 400 Free Relay of junior Mason Bencurik, junior Emil LaSida, junior John Drumm, and senior Griffin Gushman finished 27th nationally in 3:04.17. In the morning session, LaSida placed 40th in the 100 Free in 45.44 seconds. Drumm totaled three All-America honors at the meet, with LaSida, Bencurik, and Gushman earning one each.
