Senior Abigail Wilkov of the Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team made history as the Spartans placed fifth at the 2025 University Athletic Association Championships after the final day of competition on Saturday at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta.
Wilkov won the UAA Championship in the 1-meter dive, becoming the first diver in the history of the women's swimming and diving program to claim a UAA title. She scored 482.65 in the final to secure the top finish in the eight-diver championship. In the preliminary round, she scored 461.20, which was the second-highest score and just 3.75 away from the lead entering the final six dives. In addition to becoming the first-ever UAA champion diver on either board in program history, Wilkov is the first-ever Spartan to earn All-UAA honors in the 1-meter dive.
Overall, the CWRU women's team placed sixth in the conference with 850.5 points. Emory won the conference championship with 1867 points, followed by NYU (1846 points), Chicago (1365.5), WashU (1005), and Carnegie Mellon (897). Trailing Case Western Reserve were Rochester (501 points) and Brandeis (322).
The Spartans recorded three NCAA B cut times in swimming events on the final day of the championship. Junior Claire Kozma placed seventh in the A final of the 200 Fly in a B cut time of 2:04.13. The 400 Free Relay of Kozma and seniors Angeli Paull, Kate Menzer, and Gabriella Chambers swam a B cut time of 3:27.20 to place fourth in the event. Individually, Chambers added a B cut time in the 100 Free, finishing the B Final in 51.13 seconds to place ninth.
Paul also reached the B Final of the 100 Free, placing 14th in 52.23 seconds. Senior Simone Vale competed in the C Final, finishing 21st in 52.94 seconds. In the B Final of the 200 Fly, junior Kailyn Smith placed 13th overall in 2:06.22, and in the C Final, senior Selah Dean finished 22nd in 2:13.06 after recording a preliminary time of 2:10.93.
Five Spartans earned points for the team in the 1650 Free. Sophomore Ava Ellis placed 12th in 17:44.35, Dean finished one spot behind her in 17:44.97, junior Lauren Valentine placed 17th in 18:06.17, sophomore Erin Butler was 19th in 18:15.68, and senior Adriana Kamor finished 22nd in 19:12.12.
In the B Final of the 200 Back, junior Lauren Valentine recorded a time of 2:05.98 to place 15th and senior Elishka Bailey placed 16th in 2:09.03 after earning her spot with a prelims time of 2:06.56. Junior Julia Cho and senior Amelia Myhrvold competed in the C Final, placing 21st and 23rd, respectively, in 2:06.51 and 2:08.13.
Ellis placed 23rd in the 200 Breast with a finals time of 2:27.57 after a prelim time of 2:26.01. Behind her in the C Final was senior Caroline Schlessman in 2:31.83 after she recorded a prelim time of 2:28.39.
In the 1-meter dive, senior Jocelyn Schechter placed 16th with a score of 384.55, and first-year Anna Berry finished 24th with a score of 234.55.
The Spartans will have one final chance to improve their qualification times for the NCAA Championships during the End of Year Invitational on Friday, February 21 and Saturday, February 22 at the Veale Natatorium in Cleveland.
