The Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team was in fifth place in the team standings after the third day of the 2025 UAA Championships hosted by Emory University at the Madeleine Jude Brown Aquatic Center in Atlanta on Friday.
Junior Claire Kozma had the best finish by a Spartan on the third day of competition, placing fourth in the A Final of the 100 Fly in 55.29 seconds. She earned an NCAA B Cut with the time. In the B Final of the event, senior Kate Menzer placed 14th with a time of 57.44, and junior Kailyn Smith finished 16th in 58.14 seconds after a prelims time of 57.77 seconds. Graduate student Amy Evans placed 20th after recording a time of 57.86 in the C Final.
Menzer and Evans joined senior Simone Vale and first-year Marina Oria for the 200 Medley Relay, placing sixth in 1:46.73. They both reached finals of the 100 Breast, with Menzer reaching the B Final and Evans qualifying for the C Final. Menzer placed 13th in 1:05.97, and Evans finished 23rd in 1:08.53. She was joined by three other Spartans in the final: senior Caroline Schlessman, sophomore Lillian Paley, and senior Julia Cho. Schlessman finished 19th in 1:07.00, Paley placed 20th in 1:07.84, and Cho finished 22nd in 1:08.29.
Four Spartans, including Paley, swam in the evening session of the 400 IM. Senior Selah Dean finished 15th with a time of 4:37.70 in the B Final. In the C Final, Paley placed 17th with a time of 4:41.10, junior Lauren Valentine finished 19th in 4:43.78, and sophomore Erin Butler was 23rd in 4:53.15.
Vale added a 15th-place finish in the 100 Back, finishing the B Final in 58.41 seconds. Senior Erica Rice placed 23rd in the event with a time of 59.47 in the C Final.
Two Spartan seniors earned points in the 200 Free. In the B Final, senior Gabriella Chambers placed 16th with a time of 1:55.16 after recording a time of 1:52.59 in the prelims. In the C Final, senior Angeli Paull was 21st in 1:53.40.
The UAA Championships conclude tomorrow with the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 1650 Free, 400 Free Relay, and 1-meter dive. Preliminary races begin at 10 a.m. with finals scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
