CJ Krimbill ranks as one of the best players in the history of the Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team, winning the 2014 NCAA Division III Doubles Championship with teammate Eric Klawitter. He earned seven All-America honors during his career and is the program's all-time leader with 107 career singles wins (the only player in program history to eclipse 100-career singles victories), while ranking second among Spartans all-time with 123 doubles victories. Krimbill was named the University Athletic Association Most Valuable Player in 2015, the Rookie of the Year in 2013, and was a seven-time All-UAA honoree. Academically, he was a two-time Academic All-American and a recipient of the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, graduating in 2016 with a Chemical Engineering degree, before returning to the University as a student to receive his MBA in 2021. Krimbill also served as an assistant coach for the team and was named to the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year in 2023.
What is your current occupation?
I am a Product Manager at Quest Diagnostics for the cardiovascular clinical segment. I manage a portfolio of diagnostic tests and clinical solutions, which help patients gain insight into their health.
How did your athletic and academic experience at CWRU help prepare you for post-graduate life?
My time on the tennis court and in the classroom at CWRU played a defining role in shaping who I am today and in making Cleveland home 10 years later. From teammates who became lifelong friends to coaches who remain as lasting mentors, the impact is profound. I see students developing championship-level character every day - qualities that will not only shape their futures but also strengthen the communities we go on to serve.
What is your favorite and/or most memorable moment as a CWRU athlete?
Sharing life stories during trips to tournaments across the United States, exploring other cities during competitions, and playing in professional stadiums with the entire Spartan tennis family cheering.
What advice would you give to a current CWRU student-athlete?
Enjoy every moment because it is a unique experience to train, compete, and learn alongside your closest friends each day.
Why is it important to stay engaged with CWRU athletics after graduation?
The alumni network has been valuable to me personally, as alumni helped open my first career opportunities. I've had the joy to give back through coaching to see how CWRU athletics empowers students to better themselves and those around them. It is great encouragement and evidence of how worthwhile the athletic experience is when alumni return decades after their own time to share memories, friendships, and resources such as mentoring and financial support.
