Members of the Case Western Reserve University men's and women's swimming teams earned All-America honors in three events on the third day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina, on Friday.
Sophomore Claire Kozma placed 10th in the 200 Fly to earn All-America honorable mention, finishing the consolation final in 2:04.42. She reached the evening session with the 15th-best time in the preliminary heats of 2:04.25. Kozma is the first All-American for CWRU in the event since 2014 and earned the program's best finish in the event since Maggie Dillione placed third that year.
Earlier in the day, Kozma joined juniors Gabriella Chambers and Angeli Paull and first-year Maggie Rose Rook for the 800 Free Relay. The quartet swam the timed final in 7:34.27, the 14th-fastest time, to earn All-America honorable mention. It marked the fifth-ever All-America honors for Case Western Reserve in the relay and first since 2003 when Liz Badziong, Alicia Kendig, Meredith Stakem, and Hannah Webber placed 12th.
With the two All-America honors on Friday, Kozma has totaled four at the meet, the most for a member of the CWRU women's swimming team at a single championship since Alicia Kending earned five in 2003. Chambers earned her third All-America honor of the meet, and Rook and Paull received their first career All-America honors.
For the men's team, sophomore John Drumm earned All-America honorable mention with a 15th-place finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:49.11 in the consolation final. To qualify for the evening session, Drumm recorded the 16th-fastest time in the preliminary heats of 1:47.93. The All-America honor is the first of his career and marks the first time a Spartan scored in the event since 2016.
Following the third day of action, the Case Western Reserve women's team is 14th in the overall standings with 49.0 points, and the Spartan men's team is 33rd in the team standings with 14.0 points.
The Spartans will conclude their season on the final day of the national championship tomorrow with prelims scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. and finals slated to begin at 6 p.m. Kozma, Chambers, Menzer, and junior Angeli Paull will compete in the 400 Free Relay, Chambers and Kozma will race in the 100 Free, junior Abigail Wilkov will participate in the 3-meter dive, and junior Peter Meng will swim in the 1650 Free.
