The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's cross country teams sent a contingent of runners to compete at the Wooster 5K Challenge at John P. Papp Stadium in Wooster, Ohio on Friday night.
The meet, which took place between the University Athletic Association Championships last weekend and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship next week, was held under the lights on the stadium track on the College of Wooster campus.
Senior Alyssa Storm was the lone Spartan woman in action at the meet, placing 14th out of 31 runners and completing the 5K course in a time of 19:59.2.
The top finisher for the men was first-year Brendan Bradish, who placed fourth out of 42 finishers with a time of 15:40.4. Three other Spartans recorded top-10 finishes with junior Nathan Webb placing sixth (15:56.2), senior Victor Nash placing seventh (16:00.3), first-year Will Larson placing eighth (16:05.0), and junior Ben Smith finishing 10th (16:11.3).
First-year Logan Siepser added an 11th-place finish with a time of 16:18.5, while first-year George Wood-Leness (18th, 16:55.2), first-year Adam Joseph (20th, 17:06.7), junior Nathaniel Hahn (25th, 17:35.1), and sophomore Joseph Rivello (27th, 17:48.3) all completed the course on Friday.
There was no team scoring at the meet.
The Spartans will be back in action next weekend at the NCAA Great Lakes Championship, as the teams will be aiming to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. The regional meet is slated to be held at Blue River Park in Shelbyville, Indiana starting at 11:00 a.m.
