Case Western Reserve University Head Men's Soccer Coach Carter Poe announced the addition of Fernando Lisboa as the team's next assistant coach. Lisboa joined CWRU in late September 2024.
"I couldn't be more excited about Fernando joining the staff," Poe said. "I think he brings a wealth of knowledge about the game and will be a great asset to the team. But even more than that, what stands out to me most about him is who he is as a person. He's a high-character, hard-working person who fits perfectly with our program values, and I know he's going to be a great role model and mentor for our players."
Lisboa spent the 2023 season as an assistant coach at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, helping guide the team to the American Southwest Conference regular season championship. With the Crusaders, he served as head coach for the reserve team, assisted with practice planning, acted as the lead recruiter, analyzed and assessed video, and assisted in operations, travel and scheduling for both varsity and reserve team.
"I would like to express my gratitude to Coach Poe, the search committee, and the student-athletes for the opportunity to join the Case Western Reserve Men's Soccer program," Lisboa said. "A special thank you to my mentors and supporters who have guided me along the way. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the success of the program and be part of such a special group of players and coaches!"
Prior to his time in Belton, Texas, Lisboa was a graduate assistant coach with Division II Dallas Baptist University for two seasons. At DBU, he earned a Master of Science in Kinesiology in 2023. Lisboa graduated from Hastings College in 2020 with a degree in exercise science, sports and recreational management.
Playing at the NAIA level for four seasons, Lisboa was a Third Team All-American during his senior year. That same season, he was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned First Team All-GPAC honors in addition to NAIA Scholar Athlete recognition. Lisboa helped lead the Broncos to the NAIA national championship that season.
Professionally, Lisboa has received a Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma from the United Soccer Coaches and a C license from the USSF.
