Six members of the Case Western Reserve University men's soccer team earned Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Seniors Camden Larson, Phillip Washington, and Bradley Winter, juniors Ohta Kamiya and Sean Wilson, and sophomore Amir Awais all were recognized for their achievements in the classroom and on the field. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with a cumulative grade point average greater than 3.50 and must have competed in at least 90 percent or started in at least 66 percent of their team's games to be eligible for the award. Schools were limited to six nominations.
Washington and Winter are members of a select group of student-athletes determined to advance to the Academic All-America ballot. The full CSC membership will vote on the candidates, with three teams of Academic All-Americans released on Tuesday, December 16.
Larson, who is earning his second Academic All-District honor, barely left the field for CWRU, playing 588 of a possible 630 minutes (93%) in league play. He finished second on the team in shots (11) and shots on goal (four) during the team's seven conference contests. He started every game for the Spartans this season, scoring once and adding an assist. Larson received All-University Athletic Association honorable mention. He is a three-time UAA All-Academic honoree and has a 3.64 cumulative grade point average as a computer engineering major.
Washington, who was named to the All-UAA First Team for the first time in his career, played all but five minutes on the Spartan backline in the team's seven league games. He was a major part of the Case Western Reserve defense that allowed just five goals (0.71) in league play, including two shutouts. The Spartans allowed just 4.3 shots on goal in conference contests. Overall, Washington missed just 23 minutes of action in 17 games for a CWRU defense that allowed only eight goals, adding his second career assist in a win over Oberlin on September 10. In four seasons, he played 38 games, making 33 starts, and totaled two assists. A finance and economics double major, Washington has a 3.85 cumulative GPA and has earned three UAA All-Academic honors. This is his first Academic All-District selection.
The team's starting goalkeeper the last three seasons, Winter is a three-time All-UAA selection (First Team in 2025, Second Team in 2024, honorable mention in 2023). He played every minute in front of the net for the Spartans in 2025, setting a program record with 10 shutouts in 17 games. In conference play, he allowed five goals (0.71 goals against average) and saved 25 shots for a .833 save percentage. Winter recorded back-to-back road shutouts of then-fifth ranked Brandeis on October 24 and NYU on October 26. In his final collegiate season, Winter conceded eight goals in 17 games (0.47 GAA) and finished his career with a program record 22 shutouts. He is a finance and business management double major with a 3.93 cumulative GPA and is a three-time Academic All-District and UAA All-Academic honoree.
Kamiya led the Spartans with five goals this season, totaling a team-high 10 points in 17 games (16 starts). Of his five goals, two were game-winning goals. He also converted all three of his penalty kicks this season. Kamiya finished the year with 26 shots, including 12 on goal. In three seasons, he has played in 35 games, scoring seven goals with two assists. This is his first career Academic All-District honor as a computer science major with a 3.81 cumulative GPA. He is a two-time UAA All-Academic honoree.
Wilson played in all 17 games for CWRU this season, making five starts. He scored in a win over Allegheny on September 14 and added an assist three days later in a victory over Marietta. He received UAA All-Academic and Academic All-District honors for the first time as a biology major with a 3.90 cumulative GPA.
The 2025 Academic All-District Men's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA — for each gender.
The Division III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2025-26 Divisions III Academic All-America programs.
CWRU finished the 2025 season with an overall record of 7-5-5 and a mark of 1-4-2 in league play. The Spartans have not had a losing season since 2021.
