Case Western Reserve University senior middle blocker Jennifer Ngo was named University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for her performance during the volleyball team's four matches last week.
In addition to leading the Spartans with 46 kills in four matches, Ngo averaged 1.80 blocks per set for CWRU during the team's 2-2 week. In a 3-1 road loss to 23rd-ranked Ohio Northern on Friday night, Ngo tied a career high with nine total blocks (one solo, eight assist). The next day she recorded 16 blocks in two matches, including seven (one solo, six assist) against fifth-ranked Calvin in a five-set loss and nine (two solo, seven assist) in a sweep of Albion.
This season, she leads the conference with 49 total blocks and ranks third in the UAA with 1.29 blocks per set. Her 261 career blocks are eighth most in program history.
Heading into the first UAA Round Robin, the Spartans have an overall record of 9-3. CWRU returns home this Saturday, facing #7 WashU at 12 p.m. and #11 NYU at 4 p.m. inside Horsburgh Gymnasium. On Sunday, the Spartans take on Brandeis at 10 a.m.
