The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team opened its 2022 fall campaign this weekend, competing at both the UT Rocket Invitational at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio and the Kenyon Invitational at Kenyon College in Gambier Ohio.
Playing matches against Division I Holy Cross and Toledo, Division III Denison and Chicago, and NAIA Northwestern Ohio, the Spartans finished the tournament with a combined 15-5 singles record and an 11-4 doubles mark. Leading the way for CWRU at the competition were sophomore Ajay Mahenthiran and junior Sahil Dayal, who were each selected to the All-Tournament team. Mahenthiran finished with a 5-1 singles record, while Dayal went 1-0 in single matches and 5-2 in doubles play.
At the Kenyon Invitational, senior John Kasner posted a 3-0 record to pace all Spartan players, while sophomore Ben Martin and first-year Jackson Schueltze went 3-0 in doubles matches. As a team, the Spartans combined for a 17-14 singles record and a 7-8 doubles mark.
Case Western Reserve will be back in action next weekend with qualifying players heading to the ITA Fall Regionals in St. Louis, Missouri from Friday through Sunday, and the rest of the squad traveling to Granville, Ohio for the Denison Invitational.
