Kanam Gets 100th-Career Doubles Victory in Spartans' Win over Hampden-Sydney

Case Western Reserve University graduate student Anthony Kanam became just the second player in program history to reach the 100-win mark in doubles play, as he helped lead the Spartans to a 9-0 win over Hampden-Sydney College to kick-off the team's Spring Break trip in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday afternoon.

With the win, the Spartans improved to 8-1 on the campaign, while Hampden-Sydney dropped to 1-3 for the campaign. A second match for CWRU scheduled for later in the day against Wesleyan was postponed indefinitely due to rain.

Kanam joined former Spartan CJ Krimbill as the only two players to reach the century mark for doubles wins over a career with a win at no. 1 doubles with junior teammate Chris Provenzano. The duo bested Barrett Foster and Tyler Brice 8-5 on Tuesday. Adding doubles wins were senior Max Vicario and junior Diego Maza at no. 2 doubles against Frank Borden and Matt Kendrick, and sophomores Yuvraj Narang and Daniel French at no. 3 doubles against Henry Singleton and Taylor Fox.

First-year Ajay Mahenthiran earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Foster in the first singles match, and first-year Casey Hishinuma bested Brice 6-2, 6-1 in the second singles contest. At third singles, Maza earned a 6-0, 6-0 win against Fox, and Kanam was also flawless in a 6-0, 6-0 win against Borden in the fourth singles contest.
