Led by an All-America performance from first-year diver Abigail Wilkov, the Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams wrapped up competition on the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday.
Wilkov finished seventh in the finals of the three-meter dive with a score of 434.75 to earn First Team All-America honors. She earned her spot in the championship finals by finishing sixth in the preliminary round, scoring 440.65. Wilkov becomes the first women's diver in program history to earn All-America honors and the first CWRU diver to ever earn First Team All-America honors. She is the first Spartan women's swimming and diving First Team All-American since Maggie Dillione in 2014 in the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events. Earlier in the week, Wilkov placed 24th in the one-meter dive.
Sophomore swimmer Ethan Chuang finished his week by placing 18th in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:01.91. The time is third-fastest in program history and the fastest for Chuang this season. He was seeded 16th in the event. Earlier at the meet, Chuang finished 22nd in the 100-yard breaststroke and 47th in the 200-yard individual medley.
Junior swimmer Abby Halsdorfer placed 24th in the 1650-yard freestyle, finishing in 17:27.53. She qualified for the event with a time of 17:14.97 at the Magnus Cup and was seeded 21st. Earlier in the week, Halsdorfer finished 37th in the 500-yard freestyle and 47th in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Spartan women's team earned 12 points and finished 31st, the best CWRU finish since 2014 when the team placed 23rd. The men's team did not score.
The NCAA Championships end the 2021-22 season for Case Western Reserve swimming and diving.
