Led by a strong performance from first-year diver Abigail Wilkov, the 20th-ranked Case Western Reserve University women's swimming and diving team currently sits in fourth place after the first day of competition on Wednesday at the 2022 University Athletic Association Championships, hosted by Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Spartans earned 50 points on day one of the meet. The University of Chicago leads with 109 points.

In the one-meter dive finals, Wilkov finished seventh with a score of 403.00, giving CWRU 23 points. Wilkov earned her spot in the finals with a 392.15 score in the preliminary round, the sixth-highest mark in the round.

Sophomore Rei Miyauchi, first-year Jocelyn Schechter, and senior Hailey Seibert also earned points for the Spartans at the event. Miyauchi finished 12th in the preliminary round with a mark of 368.35, earning her team 15 points. Schechter took 18th in the preliminary round, earning 7 points, with a score of 332.60, while Seibert finished 20th, earning 5 points, with a score of 305.70.

The UAA Championships continue on Thursday with preliminaries scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. and finals beginning at 6:00 p.m. Events on day two include the 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, and 400-yard medley relay. In addition, the men's three-meter dive prelims will start at 12:45 p.m. with finals to follow at 5:30 p.m.
