The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team extended its winning streak to eight matches with an 8-1 victory over Hope College on Saturday morning at the DeWitt Tennis Center in Holland, Michigan.
The Spartans improve to 7-0 on the season, while the Flying Dutch drop to 3-2.
CWRU won two of the three doubles matches. First-years Hannah Kassaie and Lily McCloskey started the match with an 8-5 win at first singles over Sydney Jackson and Sullivan Patel. The teams then split second and third doubles, with the Spartan duo of junior Savannah Bright and first-year Radha Patel winning 8-4 at third doubles over Annika Weeber and Delanie Riebschleger and the Flying Dutch Saydee Johns and Taylor Truman besting first-year Madeleine Eiss and junior Nina Hoog 8-6 at second doubles.
Case Western Reserve swept the singles matches. Kassaie started with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jackson at first singles, improving to 17-1 in singles play this season. McCloskey increased the team's lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sullivan Patel at second singles. Radha Patel clinched the match for the Spartans with a clean 6-0, 6-0 win over Alexi Lewis at fifth singles. At fourth singles, Eiss picked up a 6-1, 7-5 win over Johns, improving to 12-1 this season. Sophomore Pallavi Goculdas bested Riebschleger 6-2, 6-3 at sixth singles, and Bright clinched the singles sweep with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win over Weeber.
The Spartans will remain in Holland, Michigan and finish their weekend road trip on Sunday with a match against the University of Chicago at 8:00 a.m.
