Patel Wins Main Consolation Bracket at ITA Regionals

Sophomore Radha Patel of the Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team won the consolation bracket of the main draw of the Fall ITA Regional Championship on Sunday at the Tao Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

In the consolation semifinals, Patel defeated Maria Herrera from Franciscan University in Steubenville 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 to advance to the consolation final against Wittenberg's Ashley Isaac.

After dropping the first set to Isaac 6-7 (2-7), Patel rallied to win the second set 6-3 and force a third set tiebreaker. In the tiebreak, she prevailed 10-7 to claim the consolation bracket.

At the tournament, Patel went 5-1 in singles play, winning five straight matches in the consolation bracket after losing in the first round of the main bracket.

The Regional Championships conclude the fall portion of the CWRU women's tennis team's schedule. Case Western Reserve returns to action on February 11, 2023, when the team hosts Wittenberg and Otterbein in a pair of dual matches.
