The Case Western Reserve University swimming and diving teams competed in a dual meet in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon, with the men and women both falling to Carnegie Mellon University.
The Spartan men and women each stand at 1-1 in dual meets this season, following Saturday's meet.
Junior Suhan Mestha headlined the women's performers, winning the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.30. She also added a second-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.43.
The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Mestha, sophomore Rhiannon Reese, freshman Vanya Ruppart and senior Jennifer Eurich added a second-place finish with a time of 1:40.79.
For the men, senior Aaron Pang won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.10. He also added a second-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:16.79. Freshman Will McDonald claimed a first-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:57.02 and freshman Sean Twomey earned a top-finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:12.72. In addition, senior Oliver Hudgins claimed second in the 100-yard butterfly (53.23) and junior Keith Erichsen finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:04.30).
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hudgins, senior Drew Hamilton, senior John Tomko and freshman Tiger Fan earned a second-place finish with a time of 1:28.23.
The Spartans will have a pair of meets on the horizon next week, competing at the College of Wooster at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3rd, before returning home to host Oberlin College at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th.
