Nickley Breaks School Record, Places 12th in 200 Breaststroke to End Career as an All-American

INDIANAPOLIS – Swimming for the final time as a collegian, Case Western Reserve University senior captain Sean Nickley (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) earned his first career All-American finish with a 12th-place performance in the 200-yard breaststroke on the final day of the 2014 NCAA Championship Meet at IUPUI Natatorium.

Nickley is CWRU's first men's All-American in swimming & diving since Alex Hostoffer in 2009.

Entering the event as the No. 13 seed, Nickley broke a five-year old school record with a ninth-place time of 2:01.30 during morning prelims. In the finals, Nickley placed 12th in 2:02.35. Hostoffer held the previous school record of 2:01.75 in 2009.

Yesterday, Nickley just missed All-American honors in the 100 breaststroke with a 17th-place prelims time of 56.47.

In addition his first All-American finish, Nickley finishes his career as the school record-holder in the 100 breaststroke (56.25) as well as the 200, and he is a member of two school-record relay teams.
