No. 8 Spartan Men Wrap Up Spring Break Trip with 5-1 Victory versus Bridgewater

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The No. 8 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team concluded its 2014 spring trip with a rain-shortened 5-1 victory versus Bridgewater College (Va.) on Wednesday afternoon.

The Spartans (9-3) finish the trip with a 5-1 record as their lone loss came against Division I George Mason University (Va.) on Monday.

The match was postponed for several hours due to early morning rain, and wet court conditions led to the match being played to decision.

CWRU led 2-1 after doubles with with victories at No. 1 and No. 3. Sophomore Christopher Krimbill (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) and senior Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) didn't drop a game in an 8-0 victory versus Brandon Lynn and Mike Cable in the first position. Sophomore Louis Stuerke (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) and freshman James Fojtasek (Cypress Texas/Cypress Woods) won on the third court with an 8-3 decision over Kyle Hartfield and Sam Churchill.

In singles, Klawitter and Fojtasek completed 2-0 days with victories in straight sets while Wesley Maddox (Evans, Ga./Westminster Schools of Augusta). Klawitter won 6-1, 6-4 over Lynn at No. 3. and Fojtasek earned a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 2 over Hartfield. At No. 5, Maddox won 6-0, 6-2 over Churchill.

CWRU is now idle until a trip to Atlanta for the Emory Invitational at the end of the month. The Spartans face No. 7 Emory University in a top-10 showdown at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28 then North Carolina Wesleyan College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.
