No. 13 Spartan Men Defeat Wabash and Allegheny

EASTLAKE, Ohio – Competing for the final time before its spring break trip, the No. 13 nationally ranked Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team earned 8-1 decisions versus Wabash College (Ind.) and Allegheny College (Pa.) on Saturday at One Wellness Center.

Versus Wabash (4-7), the Spartans (5-2) swept doubles and won five-of-six singles matches with the lone loss coming in fourth position. Junior Will Drougas (Roanoke, Va./Salem) teamed with senior John Healey (Columbia, Md./Atholton) for an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles. Then in singles, Drougas defeated Wade Miller in three sets (6-3, 2-6, 6-0).

Versus Allegheny (4-3), CWRU won two-of-three in doubles and swept singles matches to earn the victory. Senior Eric Klawitter (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey) won at No. 3 doubles with senior partner Ben McClarren (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) by a score of 8-4 before he defeated Thomas Manning at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4. Drougas, meanwhile, completed a perfect day as he won at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-4 and partnered with Healey to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-6.

The Spartans are back in action on Monday, March 10 versus NCAA Division I George Mason University (Va.) at 8:00 a.m. at Chaplin Park in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Overall, CWRU will play six matches on its annual spring break trip from March 10-12.
