Dillione Breaks School Record, Spartan Women finish Six of Eight at UAA Championships
CHICAGO – Junior Maggie Dillione (Newtown, Pa. /Council Rock North) broke a school record in the 200 yard butterfly, and the Case Western Reserve women's swimming & diving team finished sixth out of eight at the 2013 University Athletic Association Championships.
No. 1 nationally-ranked Emory University (Ga.) won its 15th-straight UAA Championship, piling up 1,955 points. No. 8 University of Chicago (Ill.) was runner-up with 1,435, while No. 10 Washington University-St. Louis was third with 1,219.50. No. 7 Carnegie Mellon University (Pa) (1,192.50) and No. 19 University of Rochester (N.Y.) (874.50) rounded out the top-five.
Dillione, who holds two individual school records, quashed her time of 2:06.07 by touching the wall first with a time of 2:03.20. She made a "B" cut time and barley missed an "A" cut time of 2:02.93 by .27 seconds.
Also for Case, the quartet of junior Sara Tillie (Fallston, Md. /Fallston), freshman Rachael Loek (Woodridge, Ill. /Downers Grove South), freshman Rebecca Pakradooni (Augusta, Ga. /Lakeside) and Dillione finished sixth in the A final in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:37.67.
