NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team notched its first 9-0 dual match victory of the spring and fourth in six matches by sweeping St. Mary's College (Ind.) on Friday afternoon in a non-conference affair.
The Spartans remain perfect in dual matches (6-0) and will have just two days off from competition before matching up against Division I opponent Cleveland State University on Sunday, February 19, at 7:00 p.m. at the Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake, Ohio.
For the third time in as many spring matches, the Spartans gained an early 3-0 lead during doubles play. The No. 1 tandem of junior Erika Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) and freshman sister Alexandra Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) won 8-0; the No. 2 team of junior Kathleen Evers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and sophomore Bianca Patel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) won 8-0; and the No. 3 duo of freshman Marianne Bonanno (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) and junior Emily Pham (Mason, Ohio/William Mason) were victorious by an 8-2 count.
In singles play, the Spartans picked up six straight-set wins from Erika Lim at No. 1 (6-0, 6-3), Bonanno at No. 2 (6-2, 6-2), Pham at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0), Alexandra Lim at No. 4 (6-0, 6-0), Evers at No. 5 (6-0, 6-0) and Patel at No. 6 (6-1, 6-1).
