GAMBIER, Ohio – The No. 6 nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University men's swimming & diving team competed in quad-meet action hosted by Kenyon College on Saturday afternoon inside the Kenyon Aquatic Center.
The Spartans won a pair of dual matches for the day by scores of 194-100 versus NCAA Division II Gannon University (Pa.) and 248-50 versus Grove City College (Pa.). Case tied host Kenyon, 149-149.
In the opening event of the day, the quartet of sophomore Andrew Bollinger (Boulder, Colo./Fairview), juniors Sean Nickley (Springfield, Va./West Springfield) and Gus Bailey (Grove City, Ohio/Grove City) along with sophomore Eric Haufler (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) posted a winning time of 1:35.75 in the 200-yard medley relay.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, the Spartans claimed the top-four spots led by Nickley with a winning time of 58.65 and junior Nick Clyde (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron) with a runner-up finish in 1:02.10.
In the 50-yard freestyle, the Spartans captured two of the top-three places. Bailey touched the wall with a mark of 21.63 for a runner-up showing.
In the 200-yard breaststroke, the Spartans won the top-three spots behind Nickley in first (2:11.06) and Clyde in second (2:16.12).
During the 200-yard individual medley, sophomore Alex Haufler (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) took home the title in 1:59.54, while junior Scott McHenry (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) was runner-up in 2:01.07.
In both diving events, the Spartan men swept the top-three spots with junior Daniel Jacobson (Solon, Ohio/Solon) winning each time. On the one-meter board, Jacobson totaled 286.95 points, and he accumulated 290.33 in the three-meter event.
The Spartans are idle until the three-day College of Wooster Invitational on Thursday-Saturday, November 29-December 1, inside the Timken Natatorium.
