BEREA, Ohio – The Case Western Reserve University women's tennis team competed in its first dual match of the fall and swept host Baldwin-Wallace College, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the "Pop" Collins Courts.

The Spartans (1-0) return to action this Friday-Sunday, September 30-October 2 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Championship hosted by Kalamazoo College (Mich.). The tournament will mark for the second this fall for Case.

Baldwin-Wallace falls to 0-2 in dual matches.

The Spartans jumped out to a 3-0 lead in doubles. The No. 1 tandem of junior Erika Lim (Fullerton, Calif./Fullerton Union) and freshman sister Alexandra Lim won 8-1; the No. 2 team of freshman Marianne Bonanno (Clayton, Ohio/Northmont) and sophomore Kara Richardson (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) won 8-1; and the No. 3 duo of junior Kathleen Evers (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) and sophomore Bianca Patel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore) were victorious 8-0.

In singles play, the Spartans picked up six straight-set wins from Erika Lim at No. 1 , Richardson at No. 2, Bonanno at No. 3, Patel at No. 4, Evers at No. 5 and Alexandra Lim at No. 6.

Following this weekend's tournament at Kalamazoo, the Spartans return to dual match action versus the University of Mount Union on Friday, Oct. 7 at 3:30 p.m. in Alliance. Case also opens the home portion of its schedule versus The College of Wooster on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 12:30 p.m. as part of Spartan Tennis Alumni and Parents Day/Affinity Weekend.
