Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

THE EDWARDS GAME: CWRU Guard Scores UAA-Record 54 Points in Win over Rochester

In what will go down in the books as one of the great individual performances in the history of University Athletic Association basketball, graduate student guard Ethan Edwards scored a program and conference record 54 points to lead the Spartans to a 110-98 win over the University of Rochester at Horsburgh Gymnasium in Cleveland on Sunday.

The 54 points are the most by an individual in an NCAA game (Division I, II, or III) this season. It broke the previous CWRU and UAA record of 51 points in a game, set by Sam Trunley last season against Carnegie Mellon. He also set a conference and program record with 12 made three-pointers and 16 made field goals in the game. In addition, Edwards surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for his career after needing 47 points to reach the mark entering the contest.

The Spartans improved to 11-13 with the win, including a 3-10 mark in UAA play. The Yellowjackets dropped to 11-13 overall with a 4-9 conference mark.

Stats and Standouts

  • Edwards made 18-of-29 shots overall in the game, including 12-of-21 from behind the three-point stripe. He added six rebounds and a steal in the effort. He is averaging a team-high 19.5 points per game this year.

  • Junior forward Logan Brown added his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

  • After scoring a career-high 35 points against Emory on Friday night, senior forward Andrew Fox completed a strong showing this weekend with 10 points on five-of-six shooting from the floor, along with seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and two blocks.

  • Junior guard Julian Scott came off the bench to score 10 points with five rebounds and a team-high five assists.
