The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's tennis teams each received All-Academic Team honors, while 27 individual players qualified for Scholar-Athlete status, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Wednesday afternoon.
The CWRU men's team qualified with a combined grade point average of 3.834 for the 2024-25 academic year while the women's team registered a 3.749 GPA. To qualify for ITA All-Academic Team honors, the program must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the current 2024-25 academic year.
A total of 15 members of the men's team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, including junior Rohan Bhat, first-year Leon Chen, junior Anmay Devaraj, senior Casey Hishinuma, first-year Rohit Jain, sophomore George Kosseifi, first-year Konrad Kwiatkowski, sophomore Trey Lambright, senior Ajay Mahenthiran, senior Ben Martin, junior Matthew Plunkett, sophomore Santiago Salazar Garza, first-year Luke Saylor, sophomore Derek Shiffer, and first-year Jon Totorica.
Twelve members of the women's team secured the individual honor, including first-year Maya Brink, first-year Sara Fernandez, senior Anna Kan, senior Lily McCloskey, junior Ellior Rose, sophomore Prachi Shah, junior Asha Shukla, sophomore Kareena Sivanesan, junior Elsa Syed, graduate student Laurel Utterback, junior Katalina Wang, and sophomore Katie Wong.
ITA Scholar-Athlete acclaim is awarded to players with a grade point average of 3.5 or above for the 2024-25 academic year.
The CWRU men's tennis team placed second at the NCAA Division III Championships, marking the fourth time in the last five years that the Spartans have reached the National Championship match. The Spartans won their second UAA Championship in 2025 and finished the year with a 29-6 record, the second-most wins in a season in program history. The women's tennis team finished the 2024-25 season with a record of 13-7 in dual matches.
