Case Western Reserve University junior Trey Lambright and graduate student Bryce Ware,  members of the men's tennis team, and first-year Gianna Phipps, a sprinter on the women's track and field team, have been named the Spartan Club Athletes of the Week for their performances this past week.

Ware and Lambright earned all-America honors for the 2026 season following their performance at the 2026 NCAA Division III Individual Championship last weekend in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Seeded third in the doubles draw, the duo bested Pomona-Pitzer's Drew Goldman and Jay Mallampati (ranked fourth in Division III) 6-2, 6-3 in the round of 16, before falling to Gustavus Adolphus' Gage Gohl and Tyler Handorff (ranked 12th in DIII) 6-2, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. The duo also went 2-0 at no. 1 doubles in the team tournament earlier in the week, besting third-ranked Ethan Green and Kael Shah 6-2 in the Spartans' 4-3 win over fourth-ranked Denison in the quarterfinals, and top-ranked Advik Mareedu and Caleb Settles 6-3 in CWRU's 4-2 loss to second-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the semifinals. Ware and Lambright, ranked sixth in Division III, finished the year with a 23-10 record together.

The Spartans, ranked fifth in Division III, ended the campaign with a 29-9 overall record.

Phipps claimed All-America First Team honors at the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex in La Crosse, Wisconsin, last weekend. Phipps placed eighth in the finals of the 400-meter dash on Saturday in 55.03 seconds, becoming just the fourth runner in the history of the CWRU women's track and field program to earn All-America honors at the outdoor national championship. She qualified for the final with a time of 55.43 seconds in the preliminary heat on Friday, recording the sixth-best time out of the non-heat winners. The previous day, Phipps placed 20th nationally in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.93 seconds. She secured the best-ever national finish by a CWRU runner in the event.

The Spartans tied for 72nd out of 78 scoring teams at the national championship with 1.0 points.

The Spartan Club Athletes of the Week are selected by the CWRU Department of Athletics each Monday, based on their performance during the previous week of competition.
