The Case Western Reserve University men's and women's track and field teams both received All-Academic Team honors, and 14 student-athletes received All-Academic Athlete recognition, the USTFCCCA announced on Monday.
Ten members of the CWRU women's track and field team and four members of the men's track and field team were honored by the organization. Recognized student-athletes included junior Josh Bates, graduate student Michaela Burkhauser, first-year Donovan Crowley, graduate student Ailean Duffie, senior Nate Gilbert, senior Rachel Ginn, junior Ayla Grabenbauer, junior Julia Hluck, senior Hans Holst, junior Lauren Iagnemma, first-year Siena Kannenberg, junior Ashley Novak, first-year Cecilia Postma, and senior Lauren Roskuszka. To be eligible, student-athletes needed at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and must have either recorded an individual time/mark that ranked in the top 50 nationally or have been a member of a relay with a top 35 time or have participated at the national championship meet.
It marks the third career honor for Bates and second career honor for Gilbert, Iagnemma, and Roskuszka. Burkhauser, Crowley, Duffie, Gunn, Grabenbauer, Hluck, Holst, Kannenberg, Novak, and Postma received the honor for the first time in their careers.
In addition, both the men's and women's teams received All-Academic Team honors, given to teams with at least a 3.1 cumulative team GPA. Out of the 209 Division III squads honored, the Spartan women's team had the 30th-highest GPA of 3.668 and second-best among University Athletic Association teams. The CWRU men's team ranked 20th out of the 169 schools honored with a 3.573 GPA and fifth among UAA schools.
The track and field teams had one individual participate in the NCAA Championships during the 2024-25 season. The women's squad placed fourth in the conference at both the indoor and outdoor championships, and the men's team finished fifth in the league during both seasons.
